Madison — 8-25-2025— Canaan Community Academy is excited to announce the opening of a brand-new greenhouse, designed to enhance students’ hands-on learning experiences and expand the school’s weekly gardening classes.

To celebrate this exciting addition, the school will host a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on September 23, 2025, 5:00 pm at the greenhouse, and the community is warmly invited to attend.

The greenhouse will serve as a hub for student-led projects, beginning with the cultivation of poinsettias this fall. These plants will be nurtured and cared for by students and will be available for purchase in December—just in time for the holiday season.

“Gardening provides our students with lessons that go beyond the classroom—teaching responsibility, patience, and the joy of seeing hard work bloom,” said Rhonda Pennington, Chief Administrative Officer “This greenhouse will give our students the tools and space they need to grow not only plants, but also their skills and confidence.”

The expanded program aims to strengthen connections between academics and real-world skills while also engaging families and community members through seasonal events, plant sales, and volunteer opportunities.
