Hi my mom was recently gifted this money tree and would love to get some tips and information on how to go about caring for it
Should she put it in a bigger pot ? I also read that most of these come with something tying the root/trunk ? Like a rubber band ? Should we check for that as well ?

Keep it in the pot it came in (small).
Yes, there’s a band below the soil. Take it off.
There will be mesh, and possibly a rubber band or other ties around the roots and bottom trunk. They do this when they’re starters to ensure they grow twisting together. Definitely repot and take off all of that you can find, it took me 3 repots before I got all of mine off.
These plants also like to be root bound before sizing up, so check the root size before sizing up to make sure you’re not giving it too much space where the roots could rot. Those are the only two issues I had with mine, not getting all the ties and meshing off and oversizing too quickly lol.
This pot is way too tiny. It will survive but will not thrive. If you want to keep it around this size, you can increase the pot size by an inch or two.
Any advice on light requirements?
When i looked it up when i got mine it seemed the general consensus was bright indirect light and water when the soil is dry to the touch and only get the soil wet and remove excess. Maybe im incorrect on some but it seems to work here.
