This is a simple technique that I do for a faster tomato growth in production ..

Tomato plants will grow what’s called suckers which is the which girls between the main stem and the branch? it will take a lot more to grow those than tomatoes. if you do not prune your tomato plants or remove some suckers, your plant will grow more leaves and take a long time for a production..

#gardening #plants #tomatoes

you got the main stem you have your branch you got this extra presi that’ss growing right here this is called the sucker the sucker is basically an extra part that grows out from the Tomato which will eventually give you a plant it will also give you production but it takes a long time to grow it’s like growing a whole new tomato plant coming out from the side what to do this is a simple pruning you can see we have about four or five branch in the top what we’re going to do is get your pruner and we’re going to cut it one and you can see there’s a tiny little sucker right right over here we’re going to remove them I advise people to remove the lower leaves and remove the lower suckers leave the upper suckers as a plant growing up so this way you could get a more bigger production but as you can see it’s clear here most of our energy now is going to be Focus here on the top growing the tomatoes we’re not we don’t want to grow all leaves

  1. I think I am going to start hardening off tomorrow (tomatoes & peppers), the weather is looking good the next 10 days, I am zone 5 I know different than the island we are upstate, but are you going to plant outside soon?

  2. In NH I grow my suckers. It actually depends where you are. If the suckers get proper light do not cut them. If your plant is not getting light in the center then trim suckers. It's not a one for all advice.

  3. On determinate tomatoes, this is probably the best way to grow them. On indeterminates you have more freedom so you could remove all the suckers for just 1 main stem, you could leave on a couple of suckers to focus the energy into a couple of stems or you could just let it go crazy and bush out

  4. Если их подрастать, обрезать и укоренить, будут дополнительные кустики томатов ❤

  5. Idk if anyone else has seen it before but my tomatoes have two suckers and a leaf at every node. I've been crossing different strains for a few years and I think I have created my own kind of tomato.

  6. There is no evidence that pruning the lower branches give you more fruit production , in fact the evidence shows that you'll get higher yeilds when you leave the suckers on . Pruning does open the plant up for more air flow and lower chance for plant / leaf diseases .
