Little old lady of a neighbor and I think she had her brother come in and remove the branches that were too close ti her house. Thoughts on the job? Looked drastic to me but hell I don’t know anything or else I wouldn’t be posting it on here asking for feedback.

Those aren’t good cuts. They should be a bit closer to the branch collar. Also removing all the branches back to the trunk because they were near the house is a bit drastic, I’m sure some branches could of been partially left

I guess on the bright side I won’t be picking up rotting cherries from my front lawn since this thing will be dead…

Generally you don’t want to cut more than 20% of the canopy during one year. You can clean up most of those cuts. Maybe you can do a quick 10 minute YouTube expert class. I’d take too little cut over too much cut any day. I think it will adapt to its new life quickly. Claims too close to the structure look like a croc… a crown reduction pruning would have been a much better choice.

If you want to give a more fighting recuperation, consider a fertilization for increased vigor… deep root injections are ideal.

That’s a plum. You might as well finish the job and take the rest.

Ya always cut the tree in half!

This sub is extreme.  Guarantee that tree will be fine.  At the end of the day, it’s not your tree anyway and the lady could have good reason to cut it that way (increased yard space, etc). Go ahead and downvote me….

  8. Plum.  I have multiple plums.  Not terrible.  I wouldn’t worry too much about it.
