As autumn draws near, gardens across the UK are in need of some tender loving care. With the change in season comes an influx of weeds, notorious for their rapid growth during this time. These unwelcome guests, which can be annual, biennial or perennial, can quickly overrun your lawn if left unchecked.

These troublesome plants not only mar the beauty of our outdoor spaces but also rob our beloved plants of essential water and nutrients. However, there’s a straightforward trick to rid your patio tiles of these unsightly shrubs without spending hours pulling them out by hand. This eco-friendly method is ideal for maintaining a pristine driveway or patio, and it won’t break the bank. It takes effect within minutes and utilises natural ingredients, avoiding the use of harsh chemicals.

The simple trick was showcased in a TikTok video posted by @bumboo_eco. The caption read: “Say goodbye to harsh chemicals and hello to a natural garden solution.”

“All you need is vinegar and boiling water,” the company eco-friendly toilet paper company said.

The post further explained the process: “Just pour boiling water with vinegar onto the weeds to weaken the roots and dry them out. Repeat as needed, and watch them disappear.”

Meanwhile, the video has garnered over 14,000 followers and a flood of comments. One viewer wrote: “Ooo I will have to try this on our front garden.”

“Great tip,” added another. “Will have to try this,” wrote one other.

“We will be 100% trying this,” insisted one other. Another wrote: “Brilliant idea. I’ll definitely try it.”

In other gardening news, while the biggest nuisance can be fallen leaves covering your lawns and pathways, garden experts urge not to dispose of the leaves, but to do one important task instead.

An expert at Country Living shared: “While September brings a light scattering of leaves, the big leaf drop won’t happen until October and November. Still, I like to keep things neat and tidy, so I rake any fallen leaves into the garden beds. There, they act as natural mulch, conserving moisture and helping to keep weeds under control.”

Additionally, gardeners are urged to complete one task this month in a bid to have a stunning garden next spring. We can fill our pots, beds and borders with spring bulbs now up until November so the roots can establish and be ready to burst out of the ground come springtime.

The variety of spring bulbs is exciting, so it is time to get planning and planting.
