Cattails will take over the whole perimeter of your waterline if you let them. If you want access to your water feature make sure to thin them out early. They can be a pain to pull later.
Macomb Co DEQ came through and cut the phragmities down. All that did was make them spread more. Now, they are creeping into my land, and I can't get rid of them .

Cat tails are invasive where I live.
