Beautiful plant! Make sure it gets plenty of light.

Check it very carefully for pests and quarantine it. But yes, worth saving! These are easy to root from cuttings so you could take a couple of cuttings and prop them for funsies/insurance.

What kind of soil and pot is it in?

  3. I love a pubicalyx and vote to safe it. If the roots are f*cked up, you can always chop it into a million cuttings are restart

Yes. Based on my struggles after relocating to the Midwest, I’d agree, more sun is needed. Absolutely can be saved tho.

I have a hoya that I abandoned in my own house after the second round of mealy bug treatment.

I swear it went 6 months without water in a western window. When it became clear it wasn’t going to die, I resumed care and stuck it under a grow light with water. It has exploded in growth. So I have no doubt that this hoya is perfectly salvageable.

I have a fairly large one that my friend gave me has a few mealies so I been keeping it outside posted on all the groups here in Az where I live free to anyone who want to take care of the pests lol No one wants her so I am also debating if she is worth saving!

    It’s extremely salvageable.
Maybe looks like it got a little too much direct sun tho. Try putting it somewhere bright, but also try to make sure it doesn’t get full-on afternoon sun.

Absolutely worth saving. Publicalyx are beautiful hoya and pretty easy to care for. They have gorgeous leaves and blooms (or so I’m told. I just grow leaves so far!!)

What size pot is it in now?

Hoyas like a well-draining mix. For a basic mix, add orchid bark and permit to regular potting soil 1:1:1.

It looks like it needs some fertilizer – those leaves are soo pale. But honestly it looks decently healthy for an abandoned plant. The glow up will be worth the rehab

Yes please save it! I think Hoya are one of the easiest plants to care for. They can handle
So much neglect, AAAAND that neglect usually leads to blooms! As long as they have good light, and the appropriate soil/medium, just barely take care of them and they do great. Also soooo stupid easy to propagate…

My pubicalyx is among my favorite Hoyas and that one’s still salvageable. I’d definitely give it a shot! No sense wasting that much growth time letting it die.
