Pembrokeshire is getting greener, one garden at a time.

The county has seen a 0.78 per cent rise in online searches for “eco gardens”, according to data from SunAggregates.

The findings are based on search trends for terms like “eco gardens”, “recycled shingle” and other related keywords.

Mat Stewart, of SunAggregates, said: “It’s inspiring to see communities in Wales taking the lead in embracing sustainable gardening and using recycled aggregates to enhance their gardens.”

While the increase in Pembrokeshire is modest, it reflects a growing interest across the region in eco-friendly gardening.

Cardiff led the trend in Wales with a 128.41 per cent surge, followed by Bridgend at 43.18 per cent and the Vale of Glamorgan at 11.3 per cent.

Bangor recorded a 2.13 per cent rise.

Eco gardens promote sustainability by using recycled materials such as crushed concrete, brick, and stone to create garden features, paths, and borders.

SunAggregates recommends a six-step approach to building an eco garden.

This includes careful planning, choosing the right recycled aggregates, preparing the ground, evenly laying materials, selecting drought-resistant or native plants, and adding sustainable features like rain gardens and compost areas.

Mr Stewart said: “Using recycled aggregates is a fantastic way to bring a touch of sustainability to your garden.

“By repurposing materials that would otherwise go to landfill, we’re not only creating beautiful and functional outdoor spaces, but also significantly reducing our environmental footprint.

“This is more than just a trend; it’s a movement toward a more sustainable future.”
