These are the days when my inner squirrel is very happy.

Loads of fruit in jars. More dried and drying. The finely cut dried pears top left are for my favorite scone recipe, with candied ginger.

I tried some sorghum again this year, it’s looking good. After I took this, I struggled to fling some bird netting over the top, in hopes of getting more for myself than last year.

the blue corn patch did manage to produce some, anyway.  The pole beans were almost a total wash.

new sage plants to replace the old woody ones that have pretty much had it. On the right is some horseradish I though I had dug out.

lots of sunflower seed heads but still plenty of flowers for the bees, too.

my fennel has gone to seed, I guess I should look up recipes to use it.

and the butterfly bush finally managed to grow bigger than two four-inch twigs, which is where it has been for two years. I do believe I caught a bee coming or going.
