FLEETWOOD — Gabe Martin threw two touchdown passes to Andrew Pemberton in the first half to lead Garden Spot past Fleetwood 28-7 on Friday night at Ray Buss Field in a Lancaster-Lebanon League Section Three football matchup.
The Tigers (0-2 L-L, 2-3 overall) had a trick play prepared for the Spartans (1-1, 2-3) on their opening play. Beau Fegley threw a halfback pass to Parker Detwiler for 62 yards, but Detwiler fumbled while being tackled. The rest of the first half Fleetwood gained only 105 yards.
The offense that started the first half for the Tigers with an efficient 12-for-15 passing finished the half completing only one of its last 11 attempts. They squandered plus field position numerous times in the first half.
Meanwhile, Pemberton reeled in a 49-yard scoring toss from Martin in the first quarter, and added a 24-yard catch in the second.
Fleetwood also had trouble stopping Martin on the ground, as he piled up 141 yards. Sandwiched between the two long Pemberton touchdown receptions was a 59-yard touchdown run by Martin. Garden Spot led 21-0 at halftime.
Fegley did get the Tigers on the board in the fourth quarter with an 11-yard touchdown run with 5:56 left. He was bottled up most of the night and finished with a season-low 35 yards on 11 carries.
Chase Adams had 11 receptions for 91 yards, the second-highest receptions in a game for Fleetwood all-time. Mason Musitano had 15 against Shamokin in 2023.
