Have you ever seen 'Night Light' sedum? They are a beautiful sedum, but they are not a Proven Winners brand. It's definitely worth planting!
I just have to say…..your video editor does a FANTASTIC job of picking the background music! The music he used for the Blue Wheat segment was perfect! I felt like I was watching Laura working in the prairies of Saskatchewan, Canada!!!
Every time I break a plant I stick it in the ground. Sedum root so fast you won't believe it.
I planted Acorus several months ago and couldn't figure out why it was "blah". I live in Southern California and it was planted in partial sun. After some research I learned that it was not getting enough water – apparently they like wet conditions – they are doing so much better now. Thanks for another interesting video.
Oh how lovely with running water inside the glass house or the green house. Love that idea 👌you must try that. Let us all know how it turns out.
I love the hostas you planted, perfect location under that gorgeous tree 🌳 Hostas are a great plants. They come in so many colours and sizes. I'm particularly fond of Hostas planted with Astilbe and Japanese forest grasses, the combination makes for an amazing shade border.
Have you tried planting the furns 🌿in a more boggy part of your garden? I’m guessing furns are more of a wet shade/woodland type of plant 🌱
Furns grow like weeds in my part of Sweden 🇸🇪 and can become kind of a nuisance. You at least don’t seem to have that problem whit furns in your garden. Furns planted with white alliums are a nice combination.
Thanks Laura and Aron for all the inspiration you give, it’s much appreciated.
I’ve been watching this channel for years, and love it all! I’ve recently found a video game (Stardew Valley) where I can even garden after (garden hours).. love it!!
This is probably area specific, but I have to confess that I worry every time you plant grasses in your garden. Around here, WNC, anything like those varieties with the beautiful seed heads turns into a monstrous weedy problem. They seed amongst the lawn grasses and must be hand weeded there as they are usually as immune to lawn weed chemicals as the lawn grasses themselves. The seeds spread to adjacent wild areas that are inaccessible. I finally had to tear out 2 varieties in my yard, and it will probably be a long time before I get rid of them all in the lawn and wilder parts of my property. Do you have issues with the grasses mingling in your beautiful lawns and wilder areas of your property?
I think you have your Hosta names mixed up. The ones under the ash tree are "Miss America", the ones you planted under the blue spruce tree are "Love Story".
That blue wheat is so pretty! I hope you share when you use it in a project. Question: With your late melon planting, will you cut back any of the foliage to hasten ripening of the fruit? I see other gardeners do this sometimes and wonder if and when it’s a good idea.
Thank you for your videos, informative and delightful. 💜🩷💚
Sedum are durable the broke branches just stick em in the ground and they root so fast.
Did your mom sell out of the mums y'all picked up?
Laura it’s nice seeing you work in shaded. I remember vast dusty land and little you with o shade in sight.
This hopefully encourages us to plant trees 🌳 🌲 for not only shade but wind breaks and privacy.
I once made a wreath from a mescanthus grass and it was fabulously soft and fluffy. Similar to a wheat wreath but less messy and prickly. Highly recommend if you have access to enough of it!
BTW thanks for pointing out how different soil moisture can be just a foot away with and without water.
Those sedum are so gorgeous I am getting them for sure this year instead of mums . Thanks Laura ! Also just stick the broken sedum branches in the ground and they will just root in ! Love you ❤
Hi Laura. As a long time follower, I get so excited at every new post. I'm loving the Pure Joy sedum. It's beautiful and low growing. I have grown Autumn Joy sedum for many years and it thrives in our climate. I live on the South Plains of Texas and find it challenging to find Proven Winners plants. Any suggestion on how I might locate Pure Joy for Fall planting? Thank you for any help. ❤❤
Just curious, what’s the worst injury you or anyone in your family has had while gardening? Working with the grass made me wonder!
Did Aaron make it back before the battery totally died or did he need a tow? 🤣
Hi Laura, the blue wheat is beautiful. I can’t wait to see what you create with it.
I love hostas but they don’t love me. Nothing else in my garden gets decimated by slugs, but hostas are so 7th from them right now and I’m not really interested in battling slugs for one plant.
