Found these at my plant store. Are those eatable prickly pears? Cause I've never seen them without glochid spines and the almost flat top.

Prickly pear fruits, and yes the are edible

I’m impressed by the density of the fruit on those things.
Even fruit without spines can have glochids on them, look closely before you pick with bare hands.

As a rule, all cactus fruits are edible. Not all cactus fruits are tasty. Peyote ‘buttons’ the fruit of the Lophophora genus, and some of the San Pedro cactus are said to have hallucinogenic / psychotropic qualities after ingestion, and I said ‘as a rule’ because I feel like I read about one that is toxic, but I did not save that to remember.

These are native to my region, South Western US, in the low desrt. The entire plant is edible. Different varieties taste different, and some do not taste good but are edible. The fruit is called tuna. The plant itself and the individual paddles are called napole.

If you want to know more about growing or preparing them, let me know.
