hello again everybody and welcome back to the channel I’m super excited because I’ve got a metal raised bed here which I’m going to be building on the plot which team you have kindly gifted me as you may know I’m building a lot of rais beds on the alotment at the moment so it was no-brainer really going for another raised bed team you said I could choose any product that I want so obviously I went for a raised bed I’ve got this metal one here it’s 3T by 6t so pretty decent size actually and it’s 12 in deep as well I’m going to give you an honest review on this I’m going to build it on the plot fill it up and tell you my thoughts um I’m going to be as transparent as possible and also guys if you want to go on team you and choose anything gardening related or anything at all really they’ve got all sorts of different stuff on there but especially gardening stuff there’s all sorts on there I’ve got a unique code which you can use on their website I’ll put that over the screen and uh yeah so let’s have a look at what we’ve got so we’ve got this box which to be honest doesn’t weigh that much actually I was really surprised when it came in the post it’s a 3tx 6t bed I thought it would have been really heavy but no wasn’t too heavy at all and uh yeah we’ve got loads of different sheets of this metal um don’t look that thick actually to be honest I’m I’m sure it’s going to be strong I don’t think that’s going to compromise its strength at at all but yeah it’s thinner than I thought wow the edges are quite sharp wow they are really sharp um they’re just the edges that are at the bottom or the edges that join up the the rim at the top seems to be smoothed off so that’s good I mean yeah the edges at the bottom are sharp though I think there is a pair of gloves yeah there’s a pair ow there’s a pair of gloves here which I’m definitely going to be wearing But there again they look quite small well they fit yeah they fit I’m going to use them uh I don’t want to slice my fingers open anyway we’re going to get this built now yeah okay looks easy enough to put together to be honest you got these braces so that the bed doesn’t bow I’m sure it probably will bow if you don’t put them in because you know the metal is quite flexible so it will it will really bow out as you put the material in all the compost in and stuff got some bolts there with a screwdriver that’s it I mean that’s all we need really isn’t it let’s put this bad boy together and [Music] Str [Music] okay so that was actually really easy to build it only took me like half an hour to bolt it all together really really simple I’ve put these braces in the middle as well because it is quite flimsy um I’m sure it’s pretty strong it’s not going to break and it’ll last many many years uh probably 10 to 20 years before it starts rusting because it is Galvanized um it’s got this coating on it uh so it should last a very long time um yeah it will bow I think if I don’t put these braces in um you know cuz yeah with all that weight of soil going in there so I think this is a good location to put this bed so this bed is 62 on the T website at the time of recording this video which is actually a really good price I think that’s pretty cheap especially for the size of the raised bed this is 3tx 6t um you know I could lie down in this um I’m not going to because the braces there I’ll damage them but yeah it’s a pretty good size the material isn’t like super thick but it’s pretty strong in my opinion the edges are very sharp I do have to say they are very sharp uh but the top here which you’ll be touching uh is actually smoothed off uh so that’s great you’re not going to cut your fingers on them uh but yeah you do have to wear gloves when putting this together cuz you will slice your fingers so is it worth £62 I think yes similar raised beds from other companies are quite a bit more expensive some of them are hundreds of pounds each so I think it’s definitely worth the money I’m not just saying that because it’s sponsored I do think this is a pretty good raise bed and I’m really grateful that team you have gifted me this raised bed I’m going to plant all sorts of lovely things in here so a big thank you for teamu for that so let’s get on with filling this race bed now we’re going to put all sorts of different things in here we’re going to put wood chip in here probably some horse manure um some old compost from the containers from this year I’m going to use the hugle culture method to fill it up rather than buying loads of fresh compost that’ll cost a fortune we’re not going to do that we’re going to be clever about it and use things that we already have so let’s get on with it oh [Music] [Music] okay so that’s the team you raised bed built and filled it were pretty easy to build like I said before only took about half an hour all I had to do was screw the bolts together and then attach the braces to stop it from bowing because it will definitely bow very badly if you don’t put them in and yeah it just took me another half an hour to fill it up really if that I’m using the hugle culture method as I often do with my raised beds I put wood chip at the bottom from my wood chip paths which are a few years old now they started to break down put them in here that will also hold moisture as well by the way it’s going to make things much easier with watering these raised beds can heat up very much in the summer that’s a good thing in the spring when it’s cooler but um yeah the soil can dry out with that metal getting hot so that’s a good thing wood chip will hold moisture and I’ve also put the existing native soil which was around here as well I’ve just back filled it the area here was already bed just back filled it and I’ve also put some cocoa core in there and old spent compost from my buckets so yeah um there’s a good bit of material in here and I have overfilled it you know I’ve done it right to the top to compensate for the shrinkage you know next year I probably will have to top it up again because it always will drop over time uh but yeah I’ve tried to compensate for that and overfill it a little bit uh yeah didn’t cost me anything to fill it up which is good you know that’s always a good thing if I were to just buy bags of compost or even a bag of top soil to fill this up it’s it’s going to cost a fair bit of money you know you’re probably talking 50 Quid to fill this up at least so 62 pretty cheap actually for the size of the bed 12 in high 3×6 ft in size and yeah you can grow loads of things in here the material isn’t the thickest but it’s pretty strong I think it’s going to hold it’s going to last for many years many more years than a wooden rais bed cuz metal does last longer and it’s also coated as well so that should help it last longer so what am I going to grow in here next year probably beans I’ve got some Cobra French climbing beans which I think I’m going to plant in here I’ll create like a little Wigwam system with bamboo canes and they should grow pretty nicely in here this raised bed Blends into this area of the plot quite well um it definitely does fit quite well in here remember guys you can get £100 off on your team order by using my unique code which I’ll put in the description and also over the video as well anything gardening related that you want to go and get over the festive period into the new year I’m sure many of you will be thinking about getting your gardening stuff ready for the spring because it’s going to be here before you know only a couple more months uh we’re already making preparations for the upcoming growing season so yeah really happy with this raised bed from Team U A big thank you to Team U for gifting me this raised bed I’m going to have many successful harvest in this raised bed I’m sure so thanks very much for watching guys I hope you all stay safe Merry Christmas and happy gardening

  1. WOULD AVOID TEMU AS CHINA IS USING TEMU TO UNDERSELL TO DESTROY THE BRITISH AND OTHER MARKETS!!

  2. You should have dug down about a foot and filed that area with old logs, garden waste, put the soil you dug out on top and finished of the new compost 😊, i have made some raised bed like this and they work great 😁

  3. Hey Jim. Appreciate your honest review but it does look very flimsy to me! I got mine, exact same as those, from Rinkit. They were £33 each with a 20% discount if buying more than 3. And free delivery from 2 bought.

Exact same mounting and everything but man the weight of them!

Also had been advised to go for plain corrugated and not painted ones as they tend to chip easily and rust much quicker, apparently.

All in all, for free, it's a nice wee addition for the allotment 👌

  4. Temu are known to have low ethical ratings, using forced labour to make their products and also shocking environmental ratings. Disappointed to see this ad for them on your channel.

  5. Coupon code is only for NEW users.
I have some 8x2x1 Chinese beds and they work well, they lose most of the flimsiness after they get filled. I also replaced the stabilizers with something stronger.

  6. Sorry this is extremely expensive for the flimsiness and the braces! The braces mean you a pain to dig & mix the soil.

  7. I have 3 of those, but twice as high. (also not from temu) My experience: When I opened a box…Its alot of little bolts..wow…man…ok
Putting one together took me more then two hours. Some of the holes are just a little too big for the bolts so I used rivets for those.
On the green side is some plastic sheet, which took me like more then 5 minutes to take one of, after which I decided to leave em on.
Good decision, cuz ther still on and I'm going for the 3rd year with these.
In 2 of the beds, the support on the inside came loose (too big holes) this year, so I have to take care of that next spring.

I took 2 PVC pipes, 16mm x 200cm to make 2 loops, and used the LILL curtain from ikea (one of the pair) for netting.
Its not the best, but for that price its the best solution for me as official garden-netting is like 10 times as expensive.

So all still good. Need to top the beds up also, but thats normal with raised beds.
First we need some winter with a good cold period.
    Grtz, from the Netherlands.

  8. Hi James, great video, if the edges are sharp have you not got any spare greenhouse glazing rubber strip that could go round the edge ? great honest review, take care Steve

  9. Did you consider a Hügelkultur? You could have filled the bottom with sticks and leaves. As they break down the hold so much water makes summer watering much easier as the soil can't dry out. I feel that peopel always focus on it being cheaper to fill but the real beafit is water retention l, micobs and aeration

  10. I'm so scared to buy anything from temu. The quality normally isn't good. I got sponsored by a company called vegega and I got one of these. The quality is really good but as you said it's more pricey but the strength and quality is probably worth it.

The Range has some of these for sale. Probably a bit cheaper as well. I'm curious to check them out.

On another note I've been trying to get an allotment for a while now but I'm on a never ending waiting list in my area. I wish they had more community allotments.

  11. That raised bed converts to $122 here in Australia, before you add on postage. I think your temu raised bed is overpriced as we can get better quality for the less from hardware stores. Plus, suppliers and staff will be paid a living wage.

  12. I bought it and i like it. Once i got the soil in, it was sturdy and worked for my veggies

  13. Way overpriced, uk sellers have these from £30 with free delivery ,daughter bought a heap on sale earlier this spring in different heights and lengths.
