Here’s my prayer plant. I’ve had it since late June/early July. It was super happy and healthy up until about a week or two ago. The biggest leaves all just shriveled up and died???? I use filtered water. But I do live in a drier climate (Southern California). Plant lives indoors near a big, north facing glass window so gets a decent amount of indirect sunlight. What should I do now? What should I be doing differently?

It looks to me like you have mealey bugs.
You should not be spraying it you should have humidifier next to it if anything and north facing windows are considered low light.

I would maybe look at getting a humidifier if you do not already have one. I found mine stopped crisping up once I got it in a more humid environment.

Your plant still looks healthy. I wouldn’t worry about the odd leaf drying up, that’s normal. It does seem to happen to my marantas when I don’t water them for a long time – they put all their water into the healthiest leaves and sacrifice a few I’m guessing!

Mine will literally bloom while some leaves dry up like that. I truly think mine has a split personality disorder and one personality is bipolar.

No, I’m afraid the bathroom will not provide adequate humidity. The plant needs consistent humidity. Diffusion means that the humidity in the room is going to escape as soon as it gets the chance.

All of mine are doing well in a tightly enclosed room with a humidifier, but are still losing leaves and gaining at the same rate because they’re still getting a little bit more light than I want. I have found that they lose more leaves when I’m not consistent in keeping the soil moist.

Mine did the same thing when I 1st got it. I repotted with a mixture of coir, biochar, and a little perlite, placed her in a self-watering pot under a grow light and she was blooming flowers within 2 weeks!!! They love bright light and their soil to be slightly damp and since my house is very dry, it made more sense to use a self-watering pot- no more crispy edges!. They are very picky with water, but I water all my plants with distilled water anyway.

Look for spider mites. This is not a humidity issue.

You paid too much attention. Or not enough. You breathed wrong.

These guys *hate* tap water. Try to give them distilled or bottled if you can!

I have the same plant, and there’s always new leaves growing and some drying out.. I cut it out when they turn yellow/brown.. I water once a week and my plant is healthy as ever.. your plant is good, nothing to worry, but you can consider repotting into something bigger
