At least for me (hot & very dry climate, so even in-ground they can get a little stressed) they tend to be quite hot for an anaheim type when fully ripe — about the level of a grocery store jalapeño.
Grew a somewhat expensive hybrid anaheim (Spitfire) side-by-side with Big Jim this year and was a little disappointed by it….slightly better production, but Big Jim has larger & thicker pods, and much better leaf cover (sunscald is a big problem where I am). I have yet to find an anaheim I like as much as B. Jim, honestly.

Big Jim is a good one.
