You guys saw the peas in the big container that we had done before. 13 seconds on the giveaway. Here’s one I just did in the bacon. We’ve still got another one of the big ones in that big plastic container, but I just want to show you you can do it in different things. Let’s see who won this. Going to put that. So, that’s a giveaway, guys. That’s what we do every 10 minutes. I like doing this when we were on uh YouTube. Follow me back around here. So, congratulations. And we’ll get another one started. This right here is a speckled peas right here, YouTube. And all we did was we’ve got this. I’m going to drip water all over here before we get going. You see the roots at the bottom? This little microgreen tray. There’s usually a green tray on the bottom. I like having something that’s away from it. It’s usually right up against it, and that’s when you can get a lot of mold and mildew problems. I like giving it some room. So, the roots have to grow down about an inch or two before they get to the water. So, you keep that separated. Then, this layer up here stays dry. You don’t have any mold uh mildew issues. So, that’s just like we did the bigger container. And this one is less than a week old. So you take these and chop these off. Like I said, people who are new, if you go to fancy restaurant, that’s what the chefs like. See the little tendrils and get that out of the way? So you see all the stuff up here? These are all the micro greens. I take the micro greens and we take them out and we grow them into baby greens. And then you can always take some of those and plant those in bigger containers with some nutrient solution like we do on my channel. You can grow full grown plants. So, you’ll see some of that on there too as we go on. Now, growing microgreens is kind of tough. You have to watch it two or three times a day. You have to come in and water it or you lose a whole bunch of seeds. And I was going to work and coming home. Uh get stuck at work, have to work a double shift or something and come home and all my microgreens would be dead. So, I had to figure out a way how to do it. And I made these adapters where you can take all different kind of bottles. People love mason jars. A lot of homesteaders, preppers have mason jars sitting around anyway, right? Or just about any bottle you can think of. So, these fit like our mason jars and they also fit the Coke bottles. So, we call this a hybrid because it fits two. So, you get two in one. This one fits the large mouth and it also fits a Coke bottle. Then we’ve got one here that fits just a Coke bottle by itself. In case you don’t have any mason jars, you can pick some of those up. They’re a little smaller. These fit good in a little cereal bowl just like that. Let me pull this off here and show you guys up close what we’re talking about. This is basically set it and forget it. You see the bottle right there. I was just showing YouTube there. Whatot? Look at all those micro greens. Now, growing microgreens the traditional way, they don’t grow this big and they usually cut them way before then. Like I said, you can take these, you can harvest some, and then you can plant some out and get bigger plants, too. That one is with this, the long neck bottle. That one’s actually refillable. You put it in like that. When it runs out, you pull this out, refill it, and then you just take it, set it in there like that, and it just stops at its own level. It’ll give you another three or four days. And the last one we have is a Gatorade one. This one fits these Gatorade bottles, which are really tough. These are real flimsy, right? But you probably have a bunch of those sitting around. Everybody’s drinking these, right? And just toss them in your recycling bin. This fits the Gatorade bottle. And you’ll see us putting something together back here, too. Right there’s the mason jar. We’re putting it together. Now, this also fits besides the Gatorade, it fits this big jug. Y’all seen those, right? This cranberry, but you’ve also seen apple juice, grape juice, right? So just about anything down the juice aisle, you can take a look and if the lid looks about like that, it’s going to fit this. So we’ve got all those. And what these did was make it easy. You go ahead and set it up. We’re using Hydroton right there. It’s called clay pebbles or lea. I’ve also used gravel. I also use sand. And you can check out my YouTube channel and I’ve got a playlist with it. If you buy anything, you get a little card and there’s a little QR code right there. You click on that, scan that, and you’ll go to YouTube. It’ll take you to a playlist that has all the videos that you’re seeing back here. There there’s probably like two dozen videos on the selfwatering adapters. But we just plant it out, put a little bit of seeds on the um clay pebbles, and you can cover it up. Some people didn’t like aluminum foil. So, I was shown them they could use plastic if they like. I use aluminum foil because I can use it over and over and over again. You let it germinate for 3 or 4 days and when the sprouts get about yay big, uncover it and just set it and you’re going to grow some micro greens. And hello to everybody who’s popping in here. We just explain what we do here. Now, that’s with the adapter and that’s what we’re going to be selling some of these tonight. And we’ve also got these little containers. So, like you saw the peas with the bacon dish. See if I can do this without spilling water everywhere. How’s that YouTube? Look at that. That’s less than a week. That’s a speckled peas. This one you don’t need any nutrients and you don’t need any grow medium like this. This were growing inside of the clay pebbles. This you don’t need anything. So anything like a pee or mung beans, which are bean sprouts. If you eat any stir fries and you eat bean sprouts, you can grow them the same exact way. There’s a radish. I’ve actually got some right here. Those are really spicy. This is one of the easiest ones to grow. When y’all get started, you want to go ahead and start some of those right away. They only take about four or five days and they’re really spicy. If you have any friends over and I try that, they’re going to be surprised. You’re going to be surprised the first time you try it. All right, I’m going to get a little water. What about arugula? Yeah, especially arugula. We’ve got right here arugula seeds. If you guys like arugula, this is awesome. We grow this micro greens. You can cut it. They’ll look just about like I haven’t got any arugula over here, but I’ve got some tat soy. And arugula will look just about like that. Just tiny little leaves. This is actually our toty. And the arugula, if you let it go, what we like to do is take them and pull out a couple of them, three or four at a time like that. And we put them into bigger containers. And you’ll actually see it on here, I think, a little later in the video. Right here, all that back there is arugula. This is dino kale in the front, but that whole back half, I’ll try to get a better picture of it, is all arugula. We grow it out to baby greens. So, you have which really expensive in the store. You go get baby greens, right? It’s just like they say superfood and stuff. It’s and then they want to charge you a whole lot more for it when it’s just a baby plant. So you can grow your baby greens and then you can let some of them some of them grow out. We’ve actually grown them out to full grown plants and to where they flower and and if you guys have grown arugula they’ll have these little tiny white delicate flowers and chefs love them but hardly anyone can get them because they’re real delicate and as soon as you pick them within hours they start to wilt. So basically, you have to have some that are fresh and and we let a lot of our arugula bolt and and flour and we use it like that. But all of these heads of pock choy were grown just like this. We let them go a little bit longer. That’s why I use nutrients. So you can see these are a lot bigger, right, than these guys. We’ll pull one of these guys out because there’s hundreds of them in there, right? There’s that one. And then there’s that one. So if you leave nutrients Oh, another giveaway. Who’s ready for another giveaway? Here’s one that’s less than a week old. And then this one’s almost two weeks old. So if you don’t give it nutrients, they won’t get much bigger than this. And they’ll just stay like that. And eventually they’ll just die because they’re all competing for they’re all looking for nutrients, right? You add some nutrients into it, they’ll get bigger like this. And then this is what you can take, see the roots, and you can plant them out and grow them into bigger plants. Let me get another giveaway going. Do the baby greens keep for a few days? Yes. I usually harvest mine and you can clean yours. I know some people take it, they clean them, they put them in like a spinner and that and then put them in the refrigerator. I like to take them just like this, put them into a Tupperware or gallon ziplockc bag and just kind of put them in the fridge like that and then I’ll wash it when I take it out. So to me, they keep a lot longer. I’ve had them stay in the refrigerator for like about two weeks. Hey, who’s ready for another giveaway? And we’ll get we’ll get some auctions going, guys. I just I just like talking about this. All right, guys. Giveaways going. That’s for the seeds. Any new people are popping in. If you’re interested in microgreens and all the stuff we’re doing, the giveaway is for one sample of each one of these. Tat soy, which is right there. It’s kind of like P choy except a little more peppery. Speckled peas. Arugula. Everybody’s asking about uh wasabi flavored mustard, redacre cabbage, fenugreek, China rose radish, and we’re out of this. We’ve got more on the way. So, right now, we’ve got cilantro. So, I’ve got about eight things going. We’ve got more of that. The red cabbage when we go through this, we haven’t got much of the red cabbage when we go through that. And the radish, we’re about out of that. So, you guys are going to be working on the last of of those things. And early next week, we should get another shipment in. I’m sorry, YouTube. I haven’t been looking over here. Are jarred sprouting seeds the same as microgreen seeds? Yes, they can be. And you you can do them either way. The one difference between this and sprouting in a jar is that this is a little safer with a jar. It’s a damp um environment and bacteria can grow a lot easier in it. And when you go to the store, if you’re going to be selling sprouts or you’re going to be selling microgreens, there’s a couple of there’s a different set of rules in most states because there’s more chance of sprouts getting uh bacteria growth than there is for micro greens because here anything funky will be down here. I know YouTube you can’t see. See, there you go. Now you’re following me around. So, anything that’s going to be going on will happen down here where it’s damp, right? And then there’s a layer of dry up here, and that’s what the adapters are for, and that’s what cuts down on your moisture issues. And then if you cut up here, you know, you don’t have to cut right down at the the ground level. You cut up here, you’re going to stay away from anything that’s like funky. When you’re inside of a jar, if anything starts to grow anywhere on it, then you fill it up with water and you swish it around and it gets on everything and dump it out. Then it starts to grow and then you rinse it out and then you repeat the process. So, this is actually much much safer than sprouting in a jar. All right, everybody in the giveaway. 2 minutes for that. And you guys let me know. What we usually do is if you guys want, I can put a couple of these together, maybe a couple of seeds, start the bedding at like one or two bucks, or what we’ve done before is we get a big box and we start with some of the hydrogen clay pebbles. That’s enough to get you started. Got a little bit of nutrients. I’ll talk about that in a second. And then we throw in one each of the adapters. So, you’re going to get all the different adapters. We throw that those in a box. That way, you can just go through your recycling bin and pull out a bottle and you’re going to have an adapter that fits something, right? And then what we do is we throw in a sample of each one of these. I think we’re throwing about two of each until we run out of some of those. I think the peas were running a little low. Probably got some of those somewhere, too. And then we get the bidding started. We start at $5. And then every time somebody bids, we throw in free seeds. We throw in free seeds and we’ll just keep throwing in free seeds until the bing stops. So, y’all let me know if you want to start with something small or if you want to start with the box that has the clay pebbles and nutrients and everything in it. And I’m going to tell you the nutrients that I use. Master Blend and that’s why you see me all the stuff that’s growing around me. That’s what I’ve been using for like nine years. But you have to have master blend, you have to have calcium nitrate, and you have to have Epsom salt, which you can get up at the uh drugstore. Uh, this has a QR code on it, right? So, you click that, it takes you to the video that shows how I mix this. But this right here is enough to make like 50 gallons. Now, I’m switching to General Hydroponics Maxigrow. This is much easier. All it takes is about this much. One to two teaspoons for a gallon. So instead of mixing up five gallons, I grow I always have a lot of plants growing, so I always mix five gallons. Some people are just starting with just a couple. So they’re asking how to mix up a gallon. With this, it’s a little little difficult doing that. This makes it easy. So all you got to do is mix that with a gallon of water and you’re all set. So, I’ve got some of those prepackaged up for y’all. But first, I want to go ahead and get rid of these if anybody wants this. So, this is enough to make 50 gallons. We’re not going to throw 50 gallons worth of General Hydroponics. Oh, giveaway. Jay, what’s up? Number two. Jay’s winner number two. Congratulations. Forgot my bell for the first one. Wanita said, “Since we are discussing the difference between sprouts and this method, I’m curious, do you expose your mung beans to light or keep them blanched?” That’s personal choice that for everyone there there’s no right answer to that. Me personally, I don’t do it. Um I keep mine in in the dark. So if you guys are wondering, uh mung beans are bean sprouts that you get in the store and I’m Asian. Traditionally, most of them in all the dishes, they just grow them in the dark and they don’t let the leaves turn green. If you want to, you can. It turns a little bit bitter to me and it has kind of a grassy kind of taste. But if you want more chlorophyll, you know, you can do it. I’ I’ve done it because some people asked me. I grew a whole table full. If you go on my channel, you’re going to see like a whole table full of of bean sprouts outside. So, you can do it. You don’t you don’t there’s like no right answer. We’re going to get started. So, we’re going to need a big box. There’s all the stuff. If you take them and you start growing them out to bigger greens, that’s just a milk jug. Uh, mung beans, I don’t use nutrients. This we don’t use nutrients. There’s no grow medium in there. They’re just inside of this. When we go ahead and we had a couple of these in the first couple of boxes, right? I just soak the peas overnight and then I dump it in here, rinse them out, and then a couple times a day, come in and gently rinse it. Don’t shake them up. You want to gently rinse them. You don’t want to move the the peas. So, just a little spritz of water. And then I spritz from the bottom, too, because the water will drain down and the roots will start going down. Then when they get about yay big, then you can fill the water up to where it just touches the roots and in a day it’ll get down into there. And then you don’t do anything uh don’t put any more moisture up on the top. That keeps it dry. And then the roots go down to where the water’s at. And then in about five or six days, you can have micro greens like that. And then a few more days. I’m sorry guys. We’ll get some more boxes going. I just like talking about all the stuff. You have something like that. We just did this one with the bacon dish. So, no nutrients at all. In a couple of days, you’re going to have P micrograms. And we’re going to toss in two of all of these. And I’m going to see what adapters we got left up there. Two of those. We’re going to use up almost all the radish, top soy, fenugreek, red cabbage. We’re going to throw in regular mouth adapter, Coke bottle, wide mouth, mason jar, Coke bottle, refillable long neck glass bottles, refillable Coke bottles. Couple of these for the Coke bottles. One that fits the Gatorade in the juice bottles. Your cranberry juice, apple juice, grape juice, more your hydrogen right there. All you do is put that in there. Get your adapter on your bottle, flip it upside down, put your clay pebbles. I spritz it with a little water, get it damp, toss your seeds on it, and then cover it up. We just pull them out like that and put them into the bigger containers like the video you saw back there. But it’s just this easy. Look at that. See the roots showing YouTube. See that? So you’re not only growing micro greens, you plant that out. Now you got baby greens, which they charge you a lot in the store, right? And you plant this in containers. You don’t plant all this. Imagine how that’s hundreds and hundreds of plants, right? So you eat some microgreens. You plant some of these out and you’re going to have full grown plants. So you get more bang for your buck. So you’re not wasting your money on seeds. You guys are going to have like the people who bought some of the boxes tonight. We have loads of seeds. This here was just one. The amaranth is a very small one. All right. Here’s one small one. This is the amaran. Look how tiny those seeds are. Right? People eat that like a grain. So this one thing right here is what grew this. Right? Ain’t that amazing? So, we’re going to be growing all kinds of other stuff. Can’t believe I found one more amaran. And just like this, the peas. You don’t need my adapters for everything. We just grow this on these trays. Ready? Let’s see how many peas fall out of here. Ah, so there’s little bees falling out. But that’s fun. The peas will be a little tough because those grow like vines. You can actually take those. I would plant those out in the ground. They actually do better. They grow really deep roots. You can see the roots on here, right? And they’re called nitrogen fixers. They go way down. They bring nitrogen up. So they actually help your soil. Um toty, pock choy, uh kale, especially dino kale. You saw that in our things. Kale, we even grow collards. Um the radish I just eat like that. You can just take radish and plant it in the ground and it grows fairly easy. You can grow radishes. Um I want to grow those out to to full grown plants. It’s just too easy to grow those and and harvest them over. But any of your little pock choys and everything, basil, if you guys go to my my channel on YouTube, it’s called Keep on Growing with Mike Van, you guys are over there right now, YouTube, but you’re on the wrong people. So, this way you can go and get some samples like this and a whole box of seeds and you get a wide variety. You get some that are easy and that. So, I’m just trying to get people interested. When I first started, I saved up and I went and just got broccoli. So, that’s all I could afford. So, I had a a big thing of broccoli. I bought it in bulk and I was eating broccoli for a month. And then when I the next month, I went over and got something else. It was like pock choy. And then I was running out of broccoli and I was just eating pock choy. And that’s why I grow so much pock choy and all all of that. And I couldn’t buy a whole lot of different things. I would be buying like small portions and that was like really expensive especially when I didn’t have the adapter and I’d come home and the stuff would be dead and you bought like little portions. That’d be like crazy and and it was getting a little frustrating. So I’m trying to buy in bulk. I’m trying to find the best deals so that we can do you know fun stuff like this and you guys can get things that you you normally wouldn’t probably go out and try like the mustard wasabi or fenugreek, right? People would probably stick with like arugula type soy. You might not try radish. You know, you might cilantro. So, I’m trying to get a a mix of things with everybody. And y’all were very nice letting uh Jen let you get that. I know you guys could have bid that up. So, let me go look for gnome. I’m going to toss you a gnome in there. See what we got. [Applause] Yeah, I found you another one without printing it. The little happy guy your box go. All right, throwing that gnome in your box. This some of the other stuff. See, we’re gonna be making gnome homes. And I 3D printed like that YouTube little balcony. It just looks black right now, but Kea’s going to paint it like a little door. So, we’re building gnome homes and we’re doing stuff like that. We’re going to put them on it and make a bunch if we get time and just drop them off around town. We might go up to the river where everybody takes their walks and just set them out there. Uh put little fairy lights in them and just just for fun. Uh, that was nice. Thank y’all. Love them. Sweet.
