i’ve had this for a couple months now but it has not grown even though it’s been out all summer. the tips and base have always been gray. not sure whether downsizing pots would help or not. any help would be appreciated!
Def alive, its just acclimating to its new surroundings I’m sure I will start growing next spring. Patience is key with plants

I’ve had cacti that sit for years doing nothing at all, then suddenly start growing or pupping or flowering. I’ve planted pups from the same mother, and some pupped themselves the next year while some are still just sitting there. If the light is good, the soil is good, and you don’t overwater, it should be fine.
If it feels squishy, there may be a problem, but if it feels more like a scab, it’s probably corcking, so nothing to worry about.

I’ve had a few this summer not grow because they were too root bound. I know these plants generally like it but maybe its had that pot too long?

Alive. Just corking. It’s normal
