Oh no! I don’t have a focus! I’m more of an impulsive, oooooo that looks nice…and buy it type gal. For instance, what is your -looks like stacked green marshmallows – called? So cool!

Astrophytum, trichocereus, lophophora, Copiapoa. Used to just kind of get whatever, now I’m a little more focused on what I like to keep.
Trichocereus pachanoi Peruvian and bridgesii with a side of astros and ariocarpus

I’m a fan of cold-hardy and nearly cold-hardy varieties. Living in the high desert of 6b lets me experiment with a bunch of things, zone-push, try out some hybridized seed-grown plants, etc.
Gymnocalycium, echinocereus, ferocactus, pelecyphora, tephrocactus, and of course opuntia/cylindropuntia.
I love my potted columnars, too, but there’s just something about grounding plants and letting nature work its magic.

I started this year. And I have mostly opuntias. Some of them in the photos 😉
If it catches my attention, it catches a position in the collection

I just like globular cacti, especially those that have long colorful spines. (would never own Opuntia again, nope)

Whatever I can keep alive, usually. I’m trying to expand that.
I have one cactus that I grew from a seed that won a blue ribbon at the county fair. He’s tiny, but strong. I finally have a system for growing cactus from seeds that seems to work in my space, so that has been my new focus.

Echinopsis and trichocereus. I just love their flowers!
