I think I need to upgrade my light situation for these Roma tomatoes. I’ve only had automatic systems where everything is combined previously.
What kind of specifications should I be looking for in a light? Is a tent really necessary?

You want a grow light with full photoperodic spectrum (not a purple one).
I acutally dont know whats appropiate for tomatoes, for 3 cannabis plants you would use at least 150Watts.
A tent allows humidity mangaement, which can prevent mold during flower and also prevents your room from smelling. So I’d guess a tent is for tomatoes not mandatory.
Spectrum is a marketing scam. It makes a tiny difference sure, but only when the plants light requirements are fully met. That won’t happen unless you’re well above 300w and usually in a professional setup.
Get a light with the highest output you can and put the lights you have in the trash. That is all.
Those lights are junk. There are many good lights, its hard to recommend just one, but look at brands like vivosun, mars hydro, viparspectra, spider farmer.
Grow tent is optional, but can be used to hide the extremely bright lights. Also better control of temperature and humidity.
