A fall gardening and soil health program will be held at the Bedford Garden Park Community Garden. The program will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, at the Bedford Garden Park, 416 H St.

Participants will learn about fall gardening tasks to improve their gardens’ soil health. Experts will demonstrate how to take a soil sample to test the fertility of your garden. There will be hands-on learning of how to sow fall cover crops in the home garden and cover crop seed will be available for attendees to take home.

People also be shown the simplicity of how to garden in a grow bag. Up to 20 program attendees will go home with a 5-gallon grow bag with soil and fall vegetable seeds to grow your own fall salad garden.Funding for the event was provided by Lawrence County Community Foundation Partnership.

People are asked to RSVP by Sept. 22 by calling the Bedford Parks Department at 812-275-5692.
