Hi there, I’m hoping to save my husband’s snake plant he’s had for 5ish years. It had root rot about a year ago that was so bad the top stem broke off. I threw away the bottom part and grew roots from the stem and then planted it in dirt once the roots grew a bit.

Now the plant looks like this. It’s still growing new leaves from the center. Can I help it somehow? Should I cut off the tilting leaves? Am I watering too often? I’ve tried to cut back to only watering it once every couple of weeks.

It currently lives next to an east facing window that gets good morning sun.
Thanks for any help!!

if you are afraid of watering too often causing root rot. Change it to a chunkier substrate mix, or just soil mix with lots of perlite, other porous stones and sand for drainage. I feel like it’s recovered and looks good good in my books though

I water my dad’s snake plant every 1.5-2 months, they really don’t need much water

Are those rocks just top dressing? If that’s the whole soil then I wouldn’t worry too much about overwatering. If not then I’m curious about what’s under there. I’ve heard top dressing rocks can make the below soil even more moisture-retaining. I’ve had peat-based soils alone stay moist for more than 2 weeks.
