I have a question. I have a "professionally" landscaped stone walkway that is about 11 years old. It needs work such as fixing gaps and sunken areas. I have three estimates to do the work. Two of the companies want to lift the stones and reapply sand to properly level the area, but they dont want to use the original stones they want to put down new stones. I dont understand this as there is nothing wrong with the original stones. Is this a legit thing. Or is it upselling to make more money?

It’s upselling. I’ve done multiple jobes where we reused the existing stones. As long as you remember where the cut ones go it’s goes in the same way it came out.

Upselling and laziness. It is a pain to re-use old stones, especially with cut pieces. Usually have to label every single piece if you remove the entire thing at once, and it’s possible to damage/destroy pavers during removal.
