i’ve had this spanish moss sitting in a “closed” jar for several months, like since january i believe, this is what it looks like after a dunking, is it a goner?

Can be salvaged if there are green parts w/ some effort. My grams has huge hanging wads (like some are 3 ft, others 6+) and some are many years old. As they age some of it dies off. U can tell what’s dead bc it’ll be brown whereas the alive parts will be silvery sage colored (that look more green when wet). U can try to pry apart the dead stuff and then try to reassemble the alive parts into a new hanging piece (imagine like a mop head type shape). You will inevitably still be stuck w/ some dead parts still in the live parts and some live parts removed w/ the dead parts. U could technically not prune it at all and the live portions will continue to grow but it obv won’t look as attractive.

Pretty sure stuffing it back into a jar is not the best route tho. Do u have any outdoor place u can hang it in indirect light? Or even a bathroom or kitchen that gets some decent light u could hang it? U can try to create a mop head of it and thread a piece of coated wire thru the top inch or 2 to make a loop u can hang from something. Alternatively if u have any tall plants outside, u can drape clumps on their branches or the whole thing on a tall branch….
