I really have only coming to this problem with San Marzano type tomatoes. All the other varieties of tomatoes I've grown this year and year's past have not run into this problem.
As you can see, there is black inside the meat of the tomato. To me it looks like some of the seeds are molding.
What is the diagnosis and what is the treatment for next year? I assume it has something to do with improper fertilization, but I would appreciate more detail.

It the start of blossom end rot
Looks like leaf bugs have laid eggs in your fruit. They loiter on the fruit and you need to squish them with your fingers. Gross I know but chemicals are way worse. Good luck!
My San Marzanos either had blossom end rot or looked like yours. I gave up and won’t be growing them next year. Here in northwestern Missouri we get too much rain between May and July. I’ve just restored to making tomato sauce from my prolific early girls. Gardening is a learning experience good and the bad. Next year I won’t waste my space with SMs.
We call that internal butt rot.
This same thing happened to me, only with San Marzano and none of my other 10 varieties. Next year I’m going to try a different paste variety that’s less susceptible to blossom end rot and see if that solves it.
I ended up with blossom end rot on maybe 10% of my San Marzanos. It was a very prolific plant in 7a but I plan to move on. Not enough flavor to make it worthwhile.
