Hi! I’ve had this beautiful plant for a few months, but recently it started looking a bit odd. Some of the leaves have died, and it doesn’t seem very happy. It’s in a partly shaded spot near a window, and I water it once a week by placing the pot in a bowl of water so it can soak up as much as it needs. Could that be the wrong approach? It has definitely lost a few branches in the past two months. 💔

Btw the soil is from Soil Ninja and it contains Coco Coir, Perlite and Worm Castings.

  2. they love bright indirect sunlight. you should water it not on the schedule, but after soil is fully dry. you can squeeze leaves, if they’re slightly soft, it’s time to water. soil also can be the problem, this seems too dense.

I think it’s not getting enough light. Try putting

it in the sunniest place in your home. Mine was looking a little sad as well and I recently decided to try putting it outside to see how it did. Now it grows outside in partial sun and has really grown a lot in the last few weeks. Pretty sure it’s flowering because it’s happy again! Here it is right now it’s noon and being blasted by sun and it’s having a great time

You are watering too often and they’re not getting enough light

ONLY water SOP when the pearls start to get soft

In my experience, these plants do ok in partly shaded spots. I have one that is doing better than yours in North facing crappy office window but it definitely doesn’t grow as much as the one I have outdoors which has huge pearls. If you have been consistently watering once a week, then that is your culprit. I think it was probably overwatered, the roots which are pretty shallow rotted away, and the plant is no longer taking up water as well as it did or at all. So some of your leaves are shriveled. These things really don’t need a lot of water, sometimes I’ll go without watering for 4 weeks.. Only water when the little window slits close. It’s not dead yet and there are some things you can try.. Try taking a bobby pin and “anchor” the exposed stem parts into the soil to see if it will re-root itself.

Sun and water. Mine gets bright direct sun for about 3 hours a day and bright filtered light for about 3 more hours. And then medium light til the sun goes down. Also don’t water on a strict schedule, the plant will tell you when it needs water. Give the pearls a lil squeeze, if they are firm you can hold off on watering

More light, less water. Once every other week is enough
