Mouse-ear Hawkweed was my solution to an almost no mow lawn. I let the MeH do its thing and seed clover and fescue in. I am not seeing any cons. It’s drought and disease resistant, chokes out crab grass, pollinator friendly. It also can withstand the kid and dog traffic. I would say there is some erosion control benefits as well.

The con is hawkweed being ecologically invasive (depending on your location) which makes it pollinator friendly only in that it flowers – otherwise it’s actively harmful by outcompeting their host plants.

Ok this just the yard area- the rest of this Connecticut property is native wildflowers, shrubs, and trees. The clover and fescue out compete it in the spring, summer and early fall. We have a well for water so no chemicals.
