I spend all summer cursing you,
yanking up seedlings from the driveway,
the lawn, the flowerbeds,
and wondering what kind of fool
invites a plant that doesn’t respect boundaries.

Yet come September,
you swagger back in full bloom,
throwing a party for every bee in town.
Suddenly I forget the trespassing,
the backaches, the muttered threats.

You’re chaos wrapped in petals,
a nuisance with perfect timing.
Fine. You win.
See you next year. 🐝

    Aster for the Autumn win!

I’m afraid I’ll be overrun with blue wood aster. I had 1 volunteer last year. I have 20 or more this year!

BUT! That one last year was well used by the bees! I have new england blooming now. Also started heath, aromatic, shorts and white wood asters in jugs last winter. They are all planted now.

I did not appreciate how important Asters are until the last few years. Not only do they make the late Summer and Fall landscape come alive, they are always teeming with activity!

Late to the party, but so here

Wait why did you curse them
