Could be leaf beet, the same species as beetroot and sugar beet – *Beta vulgaris*
Edit: It would be useful to have information about the location of your garden.

I’m going to provide a third option and say it might actually be a swede (or rutabaga, if you are from the US).
Smell will be the best test of which is right. Scratch the root and give it a smell, and also crush a leaf and smell it.
If it smells pungent and mustardy, it will be horseradish.
If it smells cabbagey, it will be swede.
If it has no strong smell, and just smells mildly “green”, it will be leaf beet.

Looks like a turnip to me

That small purple color makes me think it could be rutabaga… is a cross between cabbage and a white turnip. Tastes like cabbage a bit. I peel and chop mine and cook with garlic, olive oil and pepper. It will be golden in color and have a texture like potatoes, with a cabbage flavor if I am right. Very healthy for your heart.

Is it an odd shaped Kohlrabi?

That looks like a sugar beet to me! We grew beets on our farm and they were processed at the Pioneer Sugar plant in my hometown.

I think it may be a Mangelwurzel, or fodder beet.

That doesn’t look like horseradish root to me

So in my expert Reddit opinion I’ve determined it’s either a beet, turnip, radish, swede, rutabaga, kohlrabi, horseradish or wasabi.

Safe to say, it beets me.
