Planted half this meadow in June 2023, the other half in June 2024. Mostly native forbs and grasses except for nonnative alliums and hybrid agastache. Added a few things here and there and I think we’re at the point where we just let it grow and manage the aggressive species to maintain a visually appealing composition. Weed management was way down this year due to the density of the vegetation. Standout plants include Allium ‘Millenium’, Eragrostis spectabilis, Schizachyrium scoparium, Penstemon digitalis, Solidago speciosa, Symphyotrichum oblongifolium ‘October Skies’, Pycnanthemum muticum and Rhus glabra. The spotted jewelweed came in thick this year and formed a nice backdrop. There’s a lot more in there but those are some of my current favorites.

This looks great, the asters and goldenrod are beautiful among all the grasses starting to die back for fall, looks very autumnal and peaceful!

Amazing job!!! You did so good with putting taller plants towards the back and shorter in front. The composition is beautiful.

I’ve always wondered if it would be feasible for cities to plant natives in grass medians / other roadside, but I bet it runs into issues with cars needing to pull off the road.

    Looks amazing OP!

This is so beautiful! Everything flows together so well, it looks very natural yet also intentional. Which is I think what we’re all trying so hard to achieve.

I definitely gotta get me some purple love grass.

Is that schizachyrium a named culivar? It looks more blue/purple than straight species. I have ‘Twilight zone’ and ‘Chameleon’ in my garden.

Looks spectacular! Curious if growing conditions affect the color of Purple Love Grass or if I should start some *Eragrostis spectabalis* from seed to see if I get better color than the one I purchased from a nursery🤔

Wow! Fantastic job. Very inspiring. Did you draw a planting layout or how did you go about it?
