Going for a walk in nature is one of the best things to do during the autumn months. It’s a chance to take in the mesmerising colours of the season, feel the crunch of leaves underfoot and enjoy late blooming flowers.

Well, that is when it’s not raining, of course. While the weather might not be the best this week with showers forecast across the UK, it doesn’t mean you can’t plan a trip out in the coming weeks for when conditions do improve.

If you are planning a day out in nature this season, a visit to a garden is a must and to celebrate the start of autumn, Bloom & Wild has curated a list of the UK’s best botanical gardens to visit – and one of them is within easy reach of Greater Manchester.

The flower and gift delivery company named Tatton Park in Cheshire among the best family-friendly gardens to visit this autumn.

The Pleasure Grounds at Tatton Park feature different gardens which were developed over 200 years.

Highlights to see during the autumn are late blooms in the Rose garden and colourful Aces and Parrotias in the Arboretum.

As well as the gardens, visitors can also explore the parkland which is packed full of walking trails with amazing views, especially during the autumn.

However, as autumn is the rutting season walkers are urged to be aware of the deer while walking through the parkland and maintain a safe distance of 50m or more where possible. The park has also closed the Knutsford Gate until further notice.

Tatton Park isn’t the only walk in the North West to make the list; Ness Botanical Gardens in Cheshire is included too. Owned by the University of Liverpool, the gardens span 64 acres overlooking the River Dee.
