Spotted a bunch of these while walking around my parents’ neighborhood in central Virginia; what are they?


Thought it was interesting how the little pods open up like UFOs. Very attention-grabbing bright colors too.

    I think (and if so, this is kinda epic!!) this is the native euonymous Americanus- or strawberry bush.

    It has an insidiously evil cousin called burning bush or euonymous alatus.

    This is deer candy so seeing some mature ones in the wild gives me some hope. Awesome!!!
