Hey guys. This is my first time making a vivarium and I needed some advice/feedback. This will eventually be for a crested gecko once it is established.

We used the great stuff pond and stone to create our backdrop and carved it to make some ledges and holes for plants eventually. Then used kraken aquarium silicone sealant to add the coco fiber and sphagnum moss on the walls. My concern is that the silicone sealant didn’t entirely cover the carved foam and eventually moisture may seep into the foam and cause it to mold. We are eventually going to add a cleanup crew but will it be enough? I’m afraid I have to start over to properly seal it or is there another option?

You can see in the pictures some exposed areas still. I was going to use more silicone sealant to cover it with the fiber and moss. Would this be enough?

I’ve personally never seen spray foam mold since its main use is to seal out water. But don’t worry, you’ll never be able to perfectly cover every single crevice on a background, just do as much as you can. It still looks good !

Why would mold form in the foam? Mold doesn’t get nutrients from plastic.
