We are a week away from the start of fall on September 22, and already the area has been treated to a little gentler heat.
Lows have dropped into the 60s the past several mornings, and you may be considering the perfect time to dig into your garden plans.
Cooler temps and shorter days create ideal conditions for certain vegetables, herbs, perennials, and even landscape plants to take root and thrive. But before you run off to a big-box garden center, consider holding off for just a few more weeks.
Because the real green thumb event of the season is coming up at the St. Johns County Master Gardener, which takes place on Friday and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Fall Plant Sale, October 10–11, 2025, it will be on Friday and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the UF/IFAS Extension Office in St. Augustine.
