Well, welcome back. We are here right now joined with some guests that are here to remind us about the true heart and roots of the Minnesota State Fair. We’re talking about our farmers. We get a round of applause for farmers. Absolutely the backbone of America. Thank you so much. We have Jenna from Untied Vegetable Farm and then also Rachel from uh Minnesota Grown here — to go through some of these nice
— veggies that we can find at the fair. So Jenna, why don’t we start with you because the corn, it’s always a big hit, always, yes, so we grow all the corn here for the corn roast at the fair. um, which hopefully many of you have enjoyed so far, so, um, all the corn is hand harvested here in Minnesota, uh, near Monticello, so it is a fan favorite, and, um, we kind of put our heart and soul into it every year for all of you. Yeah, OK, raise your hand in the audience if you’ve had the corn at the state fair. Yes, — it is a classic
— 200,000 pieces of corn you guys hand harvest. Yes, we take it every day. — It’s picked fresh every morning and we deliver it fresh every evening for you
— all. Yes, and Rachel, there’s so many things on this table that I love. I see the maple syrup. I see the honey, and of course apples indeed. So Minnesota Grown is the Department of Agriculture’s buy local program. So we represent all different kinds of products. That you can find that Minnesota farmers and producers grow and raise all over the state and you can find a lot of them here at the fair and you can also find them at Minnesotagrown.com. Yeah, and tell us a little bit about some of this honey that we have up here. Yeah, so I brought a couple different honeys in fact, the gentleman who has this honey is at the at our booth right now, um, so you can stop by at the Minnesota Grown booth in the agriculture horticulture building and talk to a farmer, um, so honey producers, maple syrup, uh. Christmas trees, there’s so many different parts of of horticulture and agriculture, and if you go to that that building that classic building, you can can meet people and talk to farmers. Yes, it’s always so nice to to run through there and at the apples I know Minnesota is really known for the apples, yes, and it’s just getting started right now. So what we have are the first kiss apples. They’re a honeycrisp crossed with an earlier ripening apple, um, so they’re ready now, whereas Honeycrisps probably 3 to. 4 more weeks before we get really get those from Minnesota, um, but now is the time the weather is just starting to cool down orchards are opening up all over the state, so it is a great time to go to Minnesota Grown and find an orchard or a pumpkin patch somewhere like Untieds to visit a farm stand or your favorite farmers market, um, and shop and find and support farmers by buying their products. Yes, all of all for supporting our farmers and uh we just have to say thank you again so much for joining us, you guys.
