Previously on the backyard build, I’ve made a list and it’s all the stuff that we have to get done in order to move on to the pond. Add gutters, check. Hang rain chain and barrel, check. Lay new soil everywhere. Paint greenhouse. Finish laying flag stone. Finish weeping tile. Finish digging garden. Refinish greenhouse door. Install greenhouse door. Check. That’s a lot done. In one week, that is a lot done. Infiltrates the drainage system. Infiltrate the dealer. Find the supplier. [Music] Wham. Bam. [Music] Okay. I noticed the one piece. It looks like a dog was chewing on it. Which one? One of the pickets over there. Oh, I’m sure. Oh, yeah. Bunch of chew marks in it. Okay, another one done. We’ll just put some screws in it. So, do we have one, two, three, four, six more over there? One, two, three, four, five, and then two dog chewed ones, but we could maybe make them work. I guess this is kind of better. This one’s got a chunk out of it. This stuff is so freaking expensive and you have to put it all together yourself. I know. Welcome to episode 12 of the backyard build. Today we are building some Facebook Marketplace fencing. Wham bam. So I got it on marketplace. All of this for $300, which was such a steal. The catch is that it was missing some parts. So this is not actually how it looks if you were to buy it yourself. We had to like kind of maggyver it a little to make it work. Okay, let’s get it out of here. This also kind of smells like pee, but that’s what $300 on Marketplace get you. Okay, so you guys have already seen some progress we’ve made to this area already. It’s going to be a little cut flower garden. So, I want it all fenced in with an arbor. We could do like a cute little white fence around here. Yeah, cuz right now it kind of all blends together. And then I picture like either a cute little gate or like an arbor with a gate. I actually saw one on Facebook Marketplace last night. I actually already messaged the seller and we’re picking it up tomorrow. Okay. So, that’s where this marketplace find comes in. And you know what? For 300 bucks, all that fencing was a steal. So, that’s the center of the post. You want it centered on here basically, right? Uh, yeah, I think so. So, that’s basically dig one right here. I think what I’m going to do is because we’re using that foam for the holes, which I’ve never used, but I’m assuming it dries pretty quickly. We’ll dig the holes and then we’ll put the fence like drop the posts in, put the fence in and screw it so that it’s spaced properly because it has to fit in between the things, right? Mhm. So, like we could measure. Yeah, that’ll work too. But I think just put the fence in just hold it plum. Even just put the one foam it and then when you do the next like make sure it’s plum both ways. Okay. You know what I mean? Sure. How deep do we have to dig with that stuff? Like 6 in. Oh, that’s nothing. What’s straight? That looks pretty good. Yeah, that. Yep. [Music] More digging. Have you? Yeah. I’ve done a few jobs with it when I was a contractor a couple years back. Look at it go. It says it replaces two bags of concrete. So, but like what’s the catch? I wouldn’t use it for a fence that can blow over. This has huge air holes. Like there’s no linear or there no lateral like stability required for this kind of fence. Did you read the instructions? No. I saw a video years ago. Oh frig, it’s blowing around. [Music] Do not exceed mixing time of 20 seconds as the bag may rupture. Is that why you were scared? Yeah, that’s why I was scared. Going back to the list we were shared in our last episode, there’s some things we can check off. I was just looking at it this morning. So, we did order mulch for the flower garden. So, that’s coming today. Check. and dig holes in foam posts. Check. Except we’re short one. Yeah. And I don’t want to do this because we have exactly enough panels. So, whatever gets cut off of there, we’re going to put here. But that really doesn’t leave much for our list to get done. And then we’re ready to start digging. We could put this in if you want. Just got to cut it to length. And then Oh, yeah. We’re that I should just have to cut that one square, remember? Mhm. 5′ 3. Let’s do it. Okay. So, for this to work, we need to take out, I’d say 8 in off the length of these. [Music] Oh, yours has to come up a little too much. I’ll tap it. Oh, too much the other way. Right there is perfect. Is this level though? I think I moved it. No, it’s screwed in. Unless you lifted the post right out of the ground. With this sleeper build, I might have. That’s what worries me. What? I was having a hard time finding this exact one online. So, we send this back. Let me check Facebook. Maybe somebody’s selling another panel. We only need one. Okay, crisis averted. I ordered the wrong fencing because I didn’t realize at the time that that was supposed to be picket fence. I thought it was supposed to look like this. Like, I didn’t know that the pickets go on it. So, I was able to order the proper one. But, in the meantime, we can start working on the gate. [Music] Okay. What am I here for? I need your help. Oh, okay. Why do you have somewhere to be? No. Why? We’re taking it from elsewhere in the garden until I get a new one and I’ll replace that. But this one can go here. Wow. Does it fit? Yeah. I just feel like it looks a little tall next to the neighboring fencing. [Music] Well, it won’t come out. So, what do you suggest? [Music] That should be the same height as that one. Pretty close anyway. Mhm. Okay. Cute. You’re good with that? Yeah, it looks cute. Then we can just zip these or even just cut them to match that or a little lower, whatever. Right. [Music] Basically, we just have the last box delivered for um this fencing. I had to order in total the gate and I think two panels to make up for what was missed because it was a Facebook marketplace find. But technically we’re still short one panel and it doesn’t ship until like a few days from now and it’s $150 for a panel and we don’t need all the components that come with it. So maybe we’ll just have to kind of make it work. [Music] [Music] Try three. Yeah, good call. Hope you can see me. Okay. Can you see me? Okay. We picked up what? We picked up Irish moss from our garden center and we’re going to fill these cracks with it. It is a full sun moss, which is really nice because I wanted something that like Okay, let me show you. This is another example of a creeping something. This is creeping baby’s breath. And when it kind of starts to die, it looks like sad and gross. Like I don’t really want it to look like weeds are growing between these cracks. I want it to still have some greenery. And then when they’re in bloom, they get the cutest little white little flowers on them. So I only got 12, which I don’t think is going to look like very much right now, but it does spread about a foot. Irish moss. Yeah. This is what was recommended for this kind of project. Mhm. So let’s start dumping our Do you want me to scoop it in the things? Oh, I thought we would just dump it. No. Sure. Just dump it, baby. Yeah, I guess dump it on the flag stone and then we can I can sweep it in. Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. Good idea. You always know. Well, I’m always trying to be efficient and I’m always trying to be clean. [Music] Wow, that looks so cool. Kind of does. This is so fun. I was thinking about this how it might look a little odd right now, especially cuz they’re so small, but once this whole area is landscaped with plants, like we’re going to have greenery in here, greenery all in there. Like the green from here is going to match with the green everywhere else. So, it’ll feel a little more cohesive, but I feel like everything looks more cohesive with each episode. Oh, just putting that mulch in and finishing this fence. Cuz even looking back at the drone footage that we shot just last week to what this whole area looks like now, it’s like night and day. Like a completely different yard. Oh yeah. Oh my gosh, look at them. Isn’t that awesome? They just look so cute. [Music] So these probably won’t really grow much this year, I guess, eh? Plants like landscaping it is going to make it beautiful and then more digging and it won’t be long until we’re sitting under that pergola feeding our fish.
