For anyone wondering, this is about average for the amount of “stuff” I find after screening a bag of Scott’s Lawn Soil (1.5 cubic foot) through 1/4” mesh hardware cloth. Second picture is the actual remaining product I mix with sand for leveling and filling in bare spots in my North Texas bermuda grass lawn.
The remainder is saved for replacing organic material in flower beds. However, there are commonly large rocks and plastic so I usually have to check it first.

Yeah that sucks, but not as bad as some others which is basically just mulch 😂
Yep. I just put down 120 bags of Roots Organic Compost. So many 2” mulch-like sticks. Probably 100lbs of sticks left after screening it. Looks exactly like my vigoro brown mulch so I chucked it in with that, but my god the work to separate it out.
Pretty much should do this with any of them
I figured you’d find more glass and/or plastic…
Damn! You actually got some soil in your bag?
Some people have all the luck…
Menards has a bag with a man on it, I can stand by that being very clean. Clean enough that I do not need to sift. I can literally walk the neighborhood and tell who went cheap with the bag of dirt.

Is that a diy sifter?~~
Got some last weekend it was basically mulch. On the same Lowe’s run I picked up some from their evergreen brand and it was much better
