Took a cutting from the maranta I bought for work 😉 and have been trying to propagate it in water at home (going well as small roots are growing). It’s been on my kitchen window sill which is north facing, but still gets quite decent light if I say so myself… clearly very decent as it’s now grown a tiny lilac flower!

This is extraordinary to me as it’s only been here about a week and this is my first time changing the water since bringing it home.

My Q is: is it okay to leave the flower on there or would it be detrimental in any way? I’m hoping to put it in soil once the roots become a bit more established.

So can I leave the beautiful baby flower on or do I need to cut it?

You can leave it! Some plants die after they flower but the maranta is not one of them. I’ve had all three of mine flowering for over a year straight
