Doing some lot cleaning for a friend and he has two maples that I want to give the best shot at being healthy

Friend had new construction and I have been clearing out the large trees on his property. He had some really large oaks hickory and some other maples that I have removed. With these two maples that he wants to keep, I’d like some guidance on how to set them up for the best success.

We are going to be putting in a lawn next Fall. I’m thinking on tree #1 (one picture)removing the two lower limbs just above the dead limb at the bend to remove any possible crotch to catch water and debris.
