Put it in a pot. Let the roots establish. After its good to go put it on the side of the road with a “free” sign on it.
I don’t know if this tree is a good candidate for bonsai. It seems like a challenging one. A lot of bonsai trees are allowed to develop in bigger containers to help root and trunk growth. This takes years. On the other hand you could find a small pot to put it in. It will stay on the smaller size, but its trunk may remain thin and spindly.
