Why not add a hook much, much closer to the window?

I think growing a desperate cactus as a hanging plant is pretty cool. Everybody’s out here trying to grow the same perfect happy cactus, that barley grows, while OP is growing a beautiful unique monster that grows like a weed. Don’t change a thing OP.
