First time trying chip-budding. I tried it in chestnut. I've done it a week ago and it look like this now. I live in switzerland, will it sprout this year or will I have to wait until next spring? Granted the graft world. Do I Need to overwinter it different? Last year I just had them in a somehow proteced place to overwinter, so it doesn't get snowed on

I don’t know anything about Swiss weather patterns but grafts are normally fully healed in 3ish weeks depending on plants used.

Keep the plant in lowered light and high humidity and as the graft takes start raising light and lowering humidity. We try to reduce the photosynthesis being done to encourage resources to go towards healing/shoots instead of lengthening/the apical tip.

Any advice i can give to answer questions beyond here is going to be general plant care advice for recovery. Maybe keep the branch free of snow to reduce weight on the graft union?
