Hello! There are loads of different fruit bearing trees/bushes around our property (apples, pears, blackberries, etc.), and wineries are also fairly common where I am, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they are.

I have identified them as grapes, but I want to be absolutely sure before I poison myself because they are So Good.

The fruit is chewy with seeds inside. It’s sweet and almost tastes like grape jelly/wine. The outer skin sometimes is a bit sour but it’s more on the side of tangy than anything.

    Yeah these are grapes.

Why are you tasting them when you are not sure what they are and scared to poison yourself though?

Wild grapes. You must live in the south up here in the north they never get this big because of the short season. These are also called muscadines in the south, and they make wine and preserves from them. You can also make Dolomedes from the leaves.

Definitely grape. Can’t really pin down the exact species. Location would help.
