Doesn’t look bad enough to be hogs (if you have them around) so my bet is on skunk. Probably digging up grubs.

I also should add, this is in Missouri, we have hogs close by, lots, but I’ve never seen any on or around our property.

Might want to go to gardens Alice and get beneficial nematodes. Helps control the grubs

100% Armadillo

Have the same problem. 12 ga. Solved it. Armadillos. Super destructive but luckily easy to solve. Go out there at like 9pm and listen for them. They are blind as bats and can’t hear well either. You can get easily within range to dispatch them.

I have seen evidence of armadillos shredding the top shallow area of grass, I think looking for grubs.

Armadillo. Time to make a set of soup bowls!

If you’re around Texas I would say an armadillo, otherwise skunk
Kushrenada001
Skunk, armadillo, maybe a raccoon. Squirrels look for bulbs and stuff sometimes. Could have been a hawk looking for a vole.
