spikey seed pods (?) with large flowers (central oklahoma)
hello! i’d love to know what this plant is:) it’s growing in my backyard currently. super unique fruit/seeds(?) with what i assume will be super pretty flowers!
Sacred datura, D. wrightii. It’s a native species with beautiful, trumpet shaped flowers that open at night. If you have the chance, smell them late at night (when the scent is the strongest); they smell amazing!
D. innoxia is very similar, but would have conspicuous, glandular hairs on stems, petioles, etc. that stick out from the plant.
