I live in South Florida and because of the crazy rain vines that bear these berries have been popping up everywhere competing with trees. I know I shouldn't eat them but that's about it.
They almost look like a courgette of some type like a gourd. It always helps to take a picture of the actual tree it came from as a lot of things cannot be identified by the fruit itself.
