Every garden needs a few plants that scream, “Look at me.” So, here to put some sparkle into your borders are my top five showstoppers. So, what makes a showstopper? Well, quite simply, it’s a plant that can stop you in your tracks when you walk out into the garden. At number five on my list of showstoppers, well, the loopin. This is a glorious border perennial. shortish season of flower in May and June, but these tall spires of bloom are shown off by the starry leaves almost like a firework from that central stalk. Slightly smaller flowers will emerge from lower down the stem. If you chop this off once it’s faded, it opens, as you can see, from the bottom right the way up to the top. And there’s still a load of flowers here to come. colors, blues, purples, reds, yellows, white. It really has a broad color range. Some of them are by colors, blue and white flowers or pink and white flowers. It reminds me of childhood in Yorkshire loopins. Imagine walking into your garden and having some of these in your border because on a warm sunny day, you get a sweet fragrance from them as well. It’s a pretty good allrounder. The loop in.
