Held on Saturday, August 30 at the Allendale Centre, the contest featured home-grown vegetables, fruit, flowers, cookery, photography, handicrafts, floral art, junior classes and a fun class of giant vegetables.
Winners included Bill Howarth for fruit and vegetables, Jane Green for flowers, David Cobb for photography and flowers, Jo Stanley for cookery, Annie Chambers for floral art, Sarah Cheney for handicrafts and Millie for junior classes.
Stewarts Garden Centre donated vouchers for the winners.
The event was described as “very well attended,” with good support from members and visitors.
The plant stall and raffle were well supported, and donations at the door were described as “very generous”.
Many club members volunteered to help with the setup, stewarding, manning the plant stall, raffle and welcome desk, as well as clearing up afterwards.
Wilding Wimborne also had an information stand at the event.
The club said that the event was enjoyed by all, and raised significant funds for the gardening club, which will go towards its monthly programme of speakers.
The club’s next meeting will be on Monday, October 6 at St Catherine’s Hall, starting at 7.30pm.
