Looks like *Callicarpa americana* (American beautyberry). Native to the central and southeastern parts of the US, as well as Cuba, Bermuda, and the Bahamas. It’s the only US-native species.

Side note: hiking in the Lake Greeson area looking for cinnabar specimens in mine tailings I had trouble distinguishing cinnabar from the multitude of other brown red minerals until I found out that cinnabar is the same color as French mulberry. I was hunting for the stuff in the fall and I could always find it near the mines.
