We might as well enjoy some of those delicious flowers that won’t have time to turn into beans before the season winds down…
Scarlett runner bean flowers, rattlesnake pole bean flowers and hyacinth bean flowers are all deliciously edible!
With around forty days until our first expected frosts, it’s time to start wrapping up some of our garden friends…
Just leave a few for the hummingbirds who are really enjoying the scarlet runner bean and morning glory blooms this summer!
And remember to cut bean stems at the soil level in order to leave the nitrogen they’ve been fixing all season in the soil for next year’s plants. More on making the most of your beans on my website, forksinthedirt.com
Happy munching!
Did you know you can eat scarlet runner bean flowers? Do you see these beauties? Everything but the stem. So good. They’re like lightly sweetly beanie and delicious. And it’s a great way to get something out of this beautiful vine.
