I got this beautiful fig Sunday, and I can already tell it is going down hill.

I waited to water it until I received a moisture meter. It was dry. I watered it yesterday; drained the saucer after 10 minutes of pooling. Today I redid the meter test and rewatered the spots the spots that read dry. Emptied the saucer after 10 mins of water pooling.

I’ve been misting twice a day. Ordered grow lights and a vent for the a/c close by to deflect the air away. I’ve rotated the pot a few turns as well so it won’t get a sunburn.

I’m on the fence about repotting into a larger grow pot. I see advice is to at least put more soil to cover the roots, which I may do instead of repotting this soon.

Is there anything else I can do to help acclimate?

Pictures are of the water meter this morning before I did the second water, the first day, this morning and a pic of the pot/roots.

Do not repot it quite yet! It’s going to drop some leaves and throw a fit while it is adjusting to its new environment.

Do not touch it let it acclimate and once it has done that then you can repot it because I do see some roots on the top. I recommend getting a terracotta. I found a fiddle leaf fig by the trash and I repotted it with some soil and a mix of orchid bark, sand and perlite and it’s vibing and thriving. Even started growing new leafs!

Those moisture meters don’t work. Just wait until the soil is fairly dry and then fully saturated it. I usually wait at least 2 weeks between waterings unless it’s extra warm and sunny
